This would allow for displaying list view of folder contents when sharing a file. Currently file names are clipped and not easily navigateable or sortable for a novice user/client.

The option will be available with the next update.

This should work by default in FileRun, on any platform, without requiring third-party software.

Answer

FileRun now uses Apache Tika for indexing files for full-text searching. Setting binary to text converters is no longer an option. For a list of supported formats, please see: https://tika.apache.org/1.12/formats.html

More information will be available with the next update release.

Configure messages that pop up whenever users browse particular folders.

Some users of mine have only access to shared folders (and a dummy home directory). When they look for a document, they have to perform search operation in every shared folder.

Would it be be possible to have an option "Search all" ?

This would be an icon+link for admin choice of support system/ticket tool. Link is easily identifiable and takes user to support page to report issue/question.

In some cases users are supposed to perform tasks mainly inside folders which are shared by other users, so their home folders are not particularly useful. They might even create confusion. We are thinking of adding the option of hiding the home folder for certain users.

A recurring issue is server maintenance of older client files. Since, say, my website is not an archival function, but a service function with all files having some kind of expired by date, the automatic removal of trash would be fantastic.

Have a setting in options to automate the emptying of trash older than XX days.

Also, permanently delete trash after XX days.

The command line script "cron/empty_trash.php" has now the option to specify how old should be the trashed files that get removed. For more details, please see: http://docs.filerun.com/index.php/Deleting_old_files

When creating new users, Admin has to type in his "home directory".

It would be nice if he could browse tree and select the user folder instead of typing and checking.

When you copy and paste a file from a folder to another, the metadata attached to the original file are not being copied along with the file. Perhaps users might find it useful if it did?

It would be nice if we could use compression service like imagify or tinypng.

They both use api so the "super user" could set the api-key/token in control pannel "third party services" and that's would be totally transparent for users.

I'd like to set a designated folder containing documents which copy into each new user's folder. For example: A new user "Tom" registers on my FileRun server, his new home folder is automatically created, the designated documents are copied into his home folder.

With the next software update, the following functionality will be available:

For user accounts that you do not specify a home folder yourself, such as accounts created through the sign-up process, or accounts created through roles with the "Automatically create the folder if it doesn't exists." option enabled, FileRun will look for the folder "system/data/home_folder_template". If it finds the folder, the contents of that folder will be used to create the new account's home folder.

I downloaded a test video of a Youtube and tried to play it. However based on the browsers dimensions and the video aspect ratio, it may end up with unreachable controls like this:

Seems like that the video always uses full height. If it's wider, then the sides are cropped and controls are missing/overlapped.

I believe the video should always try to fit the screen while keeping the correct aspect ratio.

We fixed this in the development version. The change will be available with the upcoming FileRun update. Thank you for reporting the problem.

Hello,

When I shared a link or request file to someone, not the member. I hope they can add comments to this link, or the documents in this link.

e.g. I shared a folder named "inquiry" to my supplier, in this folder, there are some product photos, I can add some comments to the products because I am the member, I add the product size in the comment and tell supplier write down the quotation in the comment, then we can check fast. But if the supplier is not the member, he can not add the comments.

My suggestion is, the one who get the link, no matter he is member or not, he can also add the comments.

I think this is very useful function.

I think would be useful if we have more permissions options, like "users can change label" and "users can unzip files".

Once users can upload files, it would be easier if they could zip the files in their computer, upload the file and then unzip on filerun. However, by now, if you want to allow an user to unzip a file, you need to allow they to delete, move, and other admin actions.
