License stop working after update

regjose11 5 months ago updated 5 months ago 3

Hello.

After updating filerun to may'2022 update, my license has stopped working. When I try to load filerun, I get the message: "This software application is registered to a different server hostname".

I've tried to solve it by deleting filerun.dat from /system/data, but I keep getting the message. Domain and hosting have not changed.

I've recovered a previous instalation of filerun from a backup (it is an app version from 2020 I think), it is working, but now it is not detecting any updates.

Could you give me some advice please?

The license was registered for "domain.com" while the FileRun installation was being accessed via "www.domain.com". With the newer version, this is no longer an option. My recommendation is to switch to using "domain.com" and add a redirect in your HTTP server for all "www" requests.

If for some good reason you really can't add the redirect, then the solution is to contact us to change the license for "domain.com" to "www.domain.com".

I've read that in new filerun versions should exist the file /system/data/.filerun.bin, but it has not appeared in that folder after update (it sticks with the .dat one), I don't know wether it can have something to do with my problem or not.

Hello again. It's somewhat strange I received via mail an answer a bit more complete than the one showing here. There's additional info:

If for some reason you really can't add the redirect, then the solution is to delete the license file "system/data/.filerun.bin"
(because of the dot in front of the name, the file might be hidden by
your file manager) and reregister (accessing via "www.domain.com"). You
can also achieve the same by accessing "http(s)://www.domain.com/path-to-filerun-if-any/?alicense=1&key=your-license-key" (license key can be found in your FileRun https://filerun.com/client-area. Haga clic o pulse para seguir el vínculo." data-linkindex="1">client account or registration e-mail message)

So I tried the ?alicense=1&key=... solution, and it worked like a charm! Thank you so much!
