Image thumbnail custom size

admin 8 months ago updated by Vlad R 8 months ago 9

I believe that by standard, ImageMagick converts imagens only in 400x400 thumbnails.

I have my server configured to host highres pictures and videos, i would like to know if is there any custom option to change the way the thumbnail are be created.

That should be a customizable field under administration bar, to change the way filerun sends the code to imagemagick to convert files, by letting the user choose resolutions, quality percentage, extension, etc.

The way that it handles the images is fast and flawless, but i wish it could be bigger, only for preview purposes...

Use Advance Configuration for same concern

You talk about the thumbnails, but you are showing an image preview, before being loaded.

You can make the thumbnails as large as you want, from the FileRun control panel. But making thumbnails larger just for the pre-preview doesn't sound very helpful. They will take a lot of storage space and load slower.

Yes, I meant the image preview, i thought the image that loads on the image preview was the same used in thumbnail. But anyway, what i needed was that the preview image to have at least double the image resolution, i don't care for the image quality but previewing the image in 400x400 is not suitable for me. Also, when i click the image it automatically starts loading the full version of it. Is there a way to only load the full image if i click in "zoom" or "edit" ?

i ran the thumbnail_troubleshooter and this is what i got:

previewing the image in 400x400 is not suitable for me

And that is why the full image loads, if the image file is not too large, in which case, a resize version gets loaded instead. The thumbnail is temporarily shown just to let you know what it is that is loading.

But is it possible to customize it in the code? Just to change the resolution at least ? Also, if an user navigate picture by picture and every time a full res image starts loading when he just click it, t will make the network load an unnecessary task, since this user will only need to download a specific file. What i want to know is if there is a way to block the automatic load of the full image.

I am afraid not.

If a file's thumbnail was not preloaded, then previewing the file won't show anything at all. You don't want that.

ok, what about changing the file resolution from 400x400 to something else ?

The thumbnail image size can be changed from the FileRun control panel. Note that it changes the thumbnail size, not just what shows when you double-click an image file, which is, the thumbnail.
