Under Plugins there is one called 'AES File Encryption' and wants a path to AESCrypt. How does one use this plugin and which version of AESCrypt needs to be downloaded?
Any version for your server's particular OS would work. Once configured, you can select a file, choose "Open with.." -> "AES File Encryption". You will be asked to provide a password, and an encrypted version of the file will be saved in the same folder. It will have the ".aes" extension and it can be used only after decryption by providing the same password.
My OS is Windows x64 so I downloaded the x64 console version of AESCrypt and entered the path under FileRun Plugins but it does not show up under "Open with..."
Clear your browser's cache, the "Open with.." options get cached and don't refresh easy.
Ok, by clearing browser cache I know see "AES File Encryption" under "Open With..." and when I select it, it asks for a password. I enter a password, press OK and the screen flashes "Processing File" and nothing is created.
How can I tell things are set up correctly? The PHP log doesn't show any errors.
When I activate the plugin with the AESCrypt application path ("/usr/bin/aescrypt" for Ubuntu 18.04), there is nothing displayed in the "Open with..." submenu even if I clear the browser cache (Firefox). When I desactive it, I've go the "Open with..." submenu working with other options displayed.
Is there someting special to do ?
AESCrypt version is 3.10 (April 16, 2015) and Filerun version is 2019.05.21 under Ubuntu 18.04 LTS.
Same result with the AESCrypt version 3.14 (September 20, 2018).
If you are using the French translation know that there is a bug in the current FileRun version, preventing this from working right. Try with English and see if the problem persists.
That's OK in English.
I use the dark mode colors ans the password window is difficult to read (light gray on white...)
Is there a patch available ?
We issue patches only for the Enterprise FileRun version. If you own a license, do contact us. Otherwise, this particular problem will get fixed by the next FileRun update.
Clearing cache worked for me but the plugin itself does not function from Filerun as stated above.
The "enter Password" box just stays on screen after flashing "Processing file"
Any errors in the browser's console (F12)?
Nothing stands out, where should I be looking in the console?
ok, found the problem.
Under plugin settings in FileRun I had
Path to AESCrypt: "C:/Program Files/AESCrypt"
but FileRun actually requires Path + EXE Name...
Path to AESCrypt: "C:/Program Files/AESCrypt/aescrypt.exe"
